Welcome to the 2016 Elektra Montreal in Montreal, Quebec!

Elektra Montreal 2016 Digital Art FestivalELEKTRA is an international Digital art festival presenting artists and works that combine art and new technologies. As a high-calibre Montreal-based cultural initiative, the ELEKTRA Festival is a showcase of local, national and international creation for Montreal’s community.

The International Digital Arts Biennial (BIAN) is a major exhibition featuring vernissages and special events, which takes you on an artistic journey dedicated to digital art, by bringing together Montréal’s leading contemporary creation spaces.

The 3rd edition of the International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN) starts from June 3 to July 3 with a serie of soft openings beginning April 16. This year’s theme is AUTOMATA: Art made by machines for machines, with the BIAN and the 17th edition of the ELEKTRA festival – from June 1 to 5 – looking at the impact of artificial intelligence in art and culture, with a program of robotic, immersive, virtual reality, augmented reality, sculpture and digital video works. The main exhibition of the BIAN, AUTOMATA, takes place at the Arsenal Contemporary Art, from June 3 to July 3, 2016.

This year, the BIAN presents its major exhibition AUTOMATA at Arsenal Contemporary Art, a venue dedicated to presenting, promoting and developing contemporary art, from June 3 to July 3, 2016. Canadian and international artists will offer a large palette of eclectic works. BIAN audiences will discover a new generation of creators and established artists who effortlessly combine visual art processes with digital technologies to create the art of today and tomorrow.

“ELEKTRA and the BIAN are pleased to be teaming up with Arsenal Contemporary Art to offer a new Montreal-based, international cultural event. This partnership is going to generate some serious momentum, both for those involved in contemporary art and for audiences with a growing interest in technological arts.”
