Welcome to the 2016 Niagara Integrated Film Festival in St Catherine’s, Ontario!
The Niagara Integrated Film Festival (NIFF) is the brainchild of Toronto International Film Festival co-founder Bill Marshall, and senior executive of countless entertainment enterprises, Sari Ruda.
Launched in 2014, the festival partners with Niagara’s world-famous wineries and wine culture to screen the world’s best independent films under the summer sky in the breathtaking beauty of the region’s vineyards, coupled with Niagara’s excellent wine and local cuisine, unmatched by any other film festival in the world.
The Festival offers film-goers a selection of the best summer movies from around the world: inquiring documentaries, fine dramas, riveting action, spell-binding thrillers, giddy romantic comedies, delightful family films and more.
2016 marks the independent film festival’s third year and will take place at some of the most beautiful locations across the Niagara region including the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.
A number of special events will take place throughout NIFF including Galas, where attendees can experience a Hollywood premiere-style red carpet experience, with talent on-hand to introduce films and provide audience Q&A panels.
NIFF is very proud that its films compete at the highest level on the international award-winning playing field: Last June NIFF proudly screened two films as part of their 2015 program which were subsquently Oscar Nominated: “Inside Out” garnering two nominations and “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared” attaining one. On February 28th, NIFF was thrilled to watch Inside Out win its first Oscar and were delighted that several other films that we screened won other important awards and international accolades as well from Sundance to Seattle, Amsterdam to Edinburgh, Austin to Gotham Award (New York Film Critics) and more.
Additional components at NIFF will include “Niagara Rises”, which focuses on films and filmmakers from the Niagara Region, “Spotlight on Italy” with a special Gala presented with ICFF, and “Industry Day with Walrus Talks”, a full-day immersive experience for emerging and seasoned filmmakers, as well as film enthusiasts and those just curious to learn about the behind-the-scenes industry.
The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre will also showcase a “Spotlight Series”, which will feature films that have been sourced the world over to bring Niagara the best and brightest of this year’s films.
This year’s Festival takes place from June 10 to 19 and will screen more than 20 Canadian and international films at various locations in the region including Trius Winery, the Seneca Queen theatre in Niagara Falls, and all three of the theatres (Partridge, Cairns, and Film House) at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. The majority of the films will be Canadian, North American and Worldwide premieres!
For an incredible experience like no other, please join us along with celebrities and film makers from around the world this coming June for a film festival like no other in Canada!
